09.21.2006 - A Frederick County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested Sept. 15 and charged with setting fire to his girlfriend’s SUV, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. Sgt. Theodore R. Dorsey of Knoxville, a 12-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, remains on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an investigation, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Cpl. Jennifer Bailey said Tuesday. Dorsey’s arrest was in connection with a Sept. 2 fire that caused an estimated $20,000 in damage to a 2005 Chevrolet Blazer owned by his live-in girlfriend, Bailey said. The state fire marshal’s office responded to the fire at about 10:23 p.m., Sept. 2, in a secluded area near Md. Route 80 at the Monocacy River bridge. After examination, the office determined that an ignitable liquid had been used to burn the vehicle, Deputy State Fire Marshal W. Faron Taylor said. During an interview soon after the fire, Taylor said deputies discovered injuries on Dorsey’s face, wrist and hand, that are consistent with those created by an ignitable liquid flash fire. Dorsey was arrested by the sheriff’s office and charged with second-degree arson and first-degree malicious burning. Dorsey’s motive has yet to be determined, Taylor said Wednesday. www.gazette.net/stories/092106/fredcou194006_31941.shtml

FREDERICK, Md. -- A Frederick County sheriff's deputy has been indicted on an arson charge. Theodore Dorsey, 37, of Knoxville, faces one count of second-degree arson in the burning of his girlfriend's sport-utility vehicle on Sept. 2, police said. Dorsey was charged along with his live-in girlfriend, former Brunswick police officer Elizabeth Anderson, in October in what investigators described as an insurance fraud scheme aimed at getting Anderson a bigger SUV. Anderson's lawyer said prosecutors have told him the state intends to drop charges against her at a hearing scheduled Monday afternoon in Frederick. www.thewbalchannel.com/news/10362813/detail.html
