STAND OFF IN EL PASO NEIGHBORHOOD
Thursday morning, the El Paso Police dept. received a domestic disturbance call by a women claiming that her sister and brother in law were in a serious fight. When police arrived on the seen, they found that the brother in law had barricaded himself in his garage and appeared to have, what looked like, a service weapon used by either military or law enforcement. The suspects violent and erratic behavior forced officers to block off the entire street for nearly 2 hours- not allowing anyone in or out.
The two hour sand-off ended when the suspect surrendered and voluntarily exited the home, then fought with police when they tried to arrest him.
The suspect was identified as, Dep. Enrique Ledesma.... an El Paso Police Officer.
I'm gonna assume that reason Ledesma was being arrested was because he, like an idiot, barricaded himself in a garage and was waiving a gun around. But according to the El Paso Sheriffs dept. and KFOX News, Officer Ledesma was charged only with resisting arrest .
Now, correct me if I'm wrong but, don't you have be getting arrested for something, in order to resist arrest? So how can he only be charged with resisting. Did no one take into account that he endangered every resident living on that street, not to mention the people in the house. It also appears that the officers who charged Ledesma, failed to remember why they originally got called out there.......Ledesma was beating the shit out of his wife.
If Ledesma is found guilty, he could face up to a year in jail or a fine of up to $400,000. But in the mean time, Ledesma has already been released from jail and placed on administrative duty (w/no suspension).
