Deputy Troy Hale 10.16.2006 - Former Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy Troy Hale, five days after being charged with grand theft after a traffic stop and then fired, has been arrested again, according to a report by FLORIDA TODAY news partner The News-Press of Fort Myers. Hale first was arrested Wednesday. He is accused of stealing $1,150 from four people in the van he stopped today. Thursday, the sheriff’s office received another complaint, alleging that Hale, 24, stopped five Hispanic men Oct. 3 on State Road 82 and Sunshine Boulevard. The men said Hale asked them to get out of the vehicle and leave their belongings on the seat. After Hale drove away, the victims noticed $470 was taken, according to reports released Monday by the sheriff’s office. Hale on Monday was charged with one count of grand theft, a first-degree felony, and one count of official misconduct, a third-degree felony. Additional charges are pending further investigation. The first arrest stemmed from an incident in east Lee County on Tuesday night in which Hale pulled over a red Chevrolet Astro van on State Road 82, 1.7 miles east of Daniels Parkway in south Fort Myers. Authorities said Hale had the four men in the vehicle come out and submit to a search. To be charged with grand theft, more than $300 worth of goods or cash must be taken. Hale was hired in June 2005. www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061010/BREAKINGNEWS/61010023/1086
