August 07, 2006 - SANTA ROSA -- A Sonoma County sheriff's deputy was held to answer Monday to five felony counts relating to the sale of an automobile he allegedly reclaimed after it had been impounded. Officer Marcus Parker, 35, is scheduled to re-enter pleas on Aug. 21 to perjury, auto theft, grand theft auto, possession of a stolen vehicle and grand theft. Parker's attorney Bernabe Hernandez said his client was willing to plead guilty to one felony charge that would be reduced by the judge to a misdemeanor but the prosecutor did not approve of the plea agreement. The prosecution claims Parker sold his truck to a Santa Rosa auto dealer then reclaimed it after it was impounded from the new owner. Parker allegedly re-registered the truck with a duplicate pink slip and swore he was the rightful owner. Parker then allegedly traded the vehicle in to another dealer for $12,500. Parker was hired by the sheriff's department in 1996 and most recently was assigned to the bomb squad. The Marin County District Attorney's Office is prosecuting the case. www.ktvu.com/news/9643016/detail.html
