10.19.2006 - RICHMOND, Va. - The trial continues today for a Richmond police officer charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of a 21-year-old man after a traffic stop that went bad. A jury deadlocked last year in the first trial of Officer Michael Couture (KOO'-chor), who was charged then with second-degree murder in the May 2004 shooting death of Santanna Olavarria. Authorities say Couture jumped in Olavarria's moving car and shot him. Couture's attorney says the officer's life was in danger. Richmond prosecutors cleared Couture's rookie police partner in the shooting. www.wavy.com/Global/story.asp?S=5559997&nav=23ii
