12.22.2006 A U.S. Border Patrol agent assigned to the Casa Grande Station of the Tucson Sector was indicted Wednesday charges of theft of public property and money, according to court documents. According to the indictment, Paul C. Smith, 32, purchased more than 30 motorcycle tires and 10 motorcycle inner tubes with government funds, then sold them to an auto-parts store in Casa Grande for $2,750 and kept the money. Smith, of Arizona City, about 60 miles northwest of Tucson, also charged $1,000 to a U.S. Border Patrol account to pay for enhancements to a golf cart he planned to give someone, according to the indictment.
