August 27, 2006 - former Contra Costa County sheriff's deputy was sentenced Friday to 57 months in prison for possessing more than 800 explicit images of children engaged in sexual activity. Officer Bradley James Pedersen, 29, of Oakley was sentenced by U.S. District Judge D. Lowell Jensen, who ordered Pedersen to also register as a sex offender. Pedersen admitted to downloading the images from the Internet onto CDs, a laptop computer and a desktop computer. Some of the images showed minors as young as 3 engaging in sexually explicit conduct, authorities said. Pedersen, a four-year veteran who was assigned to patrol Oakley, was arrested in November 2005 after his then-live-in girlfriend discovered the images, court records show. He resigned from the sheriff's office a short time later. sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/08/26/BAGV7KPVF61.DTL
