2006-12-27 By Brian Livingston LAUREL, MISSISSIPPI – A Laurel Police Department officer, William Harrison Bender, 35, was arrested early Tuesday morning by officers with the LPD in connection with a domestic incident. Bender was charged with domestic violence and was booked into the Jones County Adult Detention Facility in Ellisville at about 1 a.m. Monday. There was no information given by the LPD on the exact nature of the charges. “This is an internal matter, and, as with all matters involving personnel, we will handle it,” said LPD Deputy Chief Tyrone Stewart Tuesday afternoon. Bender has been on leave from the LPD for several months after being activated for military service. His court date has been set in Laurel Municipal Court for later this month. www.leadercall.com/local/local_story_361094532.html
