03/14/2006 - SLATON TEXAS - A police officer was arrested Monday morning by the Texas Rangers for an incident that occurred almost two years ago. Slaton police officer Kris Ramos, 33, was taken into custody for assault domestic violence. Ramos was arrested and taken to the Lubbock County Jail for an incident that happened two years ago. "It was a dispute between the officer and his wife. At that time, there was a minor injury reported," said Jeff Creager, Slaton`s Chief of Police. "Why it`s taking till 2006 (to get this matter resolved), that I can`t explain." According to the police report, on May 17, 2004, Ramos and his wife were arguing after an unknown woman called their house. The report says Ramos pushed his wife across the chest, causing her to fall on the bed. It says Ramos then pinned her to the bed by placing his knee on her throat. The report also says Ramos states he did push his wife, but lost his balance and fell on her neck. Chief Creager says he knew of the on-going investigation of Ramos. "It came to my attention that there was an investigation inititated on this on February 16th," he said. Creager also says they haven`t had any problems with Ramos in the four years he`s been on the force. "We had some minor infractions, which isn`t uncommon for any officer ...but his overall job performance, I have no qualms." Ramos is currently out of jail after paying a $20,000 bond. Assault domestic violence is a Class A misdemeanor. If convicted, Ramos could face up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine. Ramos has been with the Slaton Police Department since 2002.

Two years to arrest this officer, two years! There is no sign of special treatment on this officer is there?
Police Chief Police Jeff Creager wonders why it took two years? Mr. Creager is this not your police department that your in charge of? Yes tell us why it took two years to investigate one of your officers?
Police Chief Jeff Creager must not take spousal abuse very seriously, that is the reason the "Texas Rangers" were called in.
Officer Kris Ramos is more than likely a liar! He admitted pushing his wife and says that he lost his balance and his leg fell on the throat of his spouse. Police officers are trained to subdue a suspect, by placing their leg on the throat of a suspect to subdue them.
Hopefully Officer Ramos will spend some time in prison and make some new "buddies."
