02/24/2006 - An Oklahoma police officer is arrested Thursday morning after his wife claims he beat her, then stopped her from calling 911. Matt Kasbaum joined the Paul's Valley police force less than two months ago, but today was taken to jail. Pontotoc County sheriff's deputies arrested Kasbaum after his wife called them from a conveniece store in Garr Corner. KTEN's Pete Tenney talked with authorities in Pontotoc County Thursday. Ada central dispatch got a 911 hangup, just before 9:00am Thursday. Several minutes later … another emergency call … from the wife of a Paul's Valley police officer. The woman said she had been beaten by her husband. Sheriff's deputies investigated her house, and arrested the 32-year old officer. They say they found a note written by Kasbaum, telling his wife he was sorry. They also found evidence of possible physical abuse. "Some visible bruising and red marks on and about her face," said Pontotoc County undersheriff Joe Glover. "She described having the telephone ripped out of the wall when she attempted to call police." Matt Kasbaum posted $500 bond Thursday afternoon from the Pontotoc County jail. He's scheduled to re-appear in court, and is expected to face domestic abuse charges. He's also likely to face charges for interfering with a 911 call. Paul's Valley police chief Dennis Madison says the officer has been placed on administrative leave with pay. Pete Tenney, KTEN news.
