05/16/2006 - CHICAGO -- A Chicago police officer was ordered released on a $10,000 signature bond Sunday after being charged with slapping his wife.
Kenneth Burke, 53, of the 11000 block of South Ridgeway Avenue is charged with domestic battery after slapping the woman Sunday morning and telling her, "I'll take you out, and I will take myself out," Cook County Assistant State's Atty. Mike Zalewski said.
Burke's attorney, Robert Kuzas, said Burke, a sergeant, has been with Chicago police for 27 years. Kuzas said Burke's wife was in court and did not want charges filed against her husband.
Burke was arrested about 4:10 a.m. Sunday. It is his first arrest, court records show.
