December 20, 2006 DANVILLE — A Vermilion County deputy and DARE officer arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol was suspended by the department late Tuesday. Sheriff Pat Hartshorn said the decision was made to suspend Ryan Goodner from his job at about 4 p.m. Tuesday. Goodner has been a deputy for three years. The deputy was arrested on the DUI charge during the early morning hours of Dec. 14 after an Illinois State Police trooper stopped him for speeding along Illinois Route 1 south of Rossville. Goodner had been off work on personal vacation days scheduled prior to the traffic stop. The decision to suspend him was made when he came off those vacation days, the sheriff said. The suspension is expected to last a minimum of 30 days, depending on “where he goes with the ticket,” Hartshorn said. Goodner faces charges of DUI and speeding 21-25 mph above the speed limit. He was off duty in his own vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. His first court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 30. www.commercial-news.com/local/local_story_354234825.html
