04/01/2006 - PEABODY, Mass. A Lynn police officer who is not currently on active duty pleaded innocent to a drunken driving charge following an early morning accident involving a Peabody police cruiser.
Prosecutors say 25-year-old Kevin Livermore was drunk when he ran a red light in Peabody and struck the cruiser at about 1:25 this morning.
He was arrested on charges of operating under the influence and failing to stop. He was released on personal recognizance.
Neither Livermore nor the Peabody officer was seriously injured.
Livermore said outside of court that he was not at fault, and that the Peabody officer ran a light and struck him.
Lynn police say Livermore has worked for the department for less than a year and has not performed any official duties since an off-duty incident in February.
