10.12.2006 - BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - A former Bridgeport police officer has been sentenced to 45 months in prison for distributing OxyCodone, an active ingredient in the painkiller OxyContin. Officer Jeffrey G. Streck, 40, of Monroe also was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport on Wednesday for conspiring to possess with intent to distribute OxyCodone. In addition, U.S. District Judge Alan Nevas sentenced Streck to three years of supervised release and fined him $5,000, U.S. Attorney Kevin O'Connor said. Streck, a Bridgeport officer, was arrested in Bridgeport by FBI agents in March 2005. Prosecutors say Streck arranged for the purchase of OxyCodone. The investigation included a three-month court-authorized wiretap that showed a large-scale cocaine and marijuana distribution ring operating in the Bridgeport area, authorities said. Streck pleaded guilty to the charges in January. FBI agents also arrested 29 others as part of the investigation. Streck joined the Bridgeport Police Department in 1993 and was promoted to detective in 2003. www.newsday.com/news/local/wire/connecticut/ny-bc-ct-brf--detectivepain0928sep28,0,1833970.story?coll=ny-region-apconnecticut
