06.13.2006 - A sheriff's deputy was arrested Monday as part of an investigation into a clinic that authorities say was a center for doctor shopping and prescription drug abuse.
David A. Junstrom, 42, faces two counts of doctor shopping and two counts of trafficking in controlled substances. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $110,000 bail. Junstrom works in the detention and corrections bureau of the Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office arrested Junstrom as part of an investigation into the Doctors Urgent Care Walk-In Clinic in St. Petersburg.
He is the eighth person arrested as part of the investigation. Authorities say doctors at the clinic practiced medicine without a license and illegally prescribed narcotics an other painkillers.
It was unclear what prompted authorities to investigate Junstrom, who has worked for the Sheriff's Office since 1987.
After his arrest, the internal affairs unit began an investigation and Junstrom was placed on administrative leave with pay.
