06.15.2006 - A sheriff's deputy in our area is in federal custody on drug charges. 8News reporter Tiffany Woods has more on the investigation.
"My dog woke up she knew something was going on," said neighbor Shirley Williams.
Williams watched Tuesday morning as several state and federal investigators raided her neighbor's home, that of Greensville Sheriff's Deputy Timothy Williams.
"I said is he alright..and he said yes, he was involved in some extracurricular activities," Williams told us.
Sheriff Deputy Timothy Williams was arrested for conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and marijuana.
Sheriff Wyatt Lee declined to go on camera but tells us Timothy Williams had been a sheriff deputy for 6 years. He also tells us federal authorities had been investigating him for four months.
Shirley Williams tells us she always respected Timothy because he was a member of law enforcement, but she also says she wasn't completely surprised by the allegations.
Timothy Williams has been suspended without pay. We're also told he's being questioned by federal authorities and officials tells us he could be facing other charges.
