12.31.2006 - Three women who sued an Austin police officer, the City of Austin and Travis County over sexual misconduct have been awarded $2,500 each, documents provided by the city and county show. Former Austin police officer Jason Lockaby was fired in December 2004 and later sentenced to three months in county jail after he pleaded guilty to improper sexual activity with a person in custody, attempted improper sexual activity with a person in custody and official oppression. He also was fined $1,000, was required to forfeit his Texas peace officer's license and was given five years' deferred adjudication, a form of probation. Lockaby touched the breasts of two women and pressured the third woman to show him her breasts to avoid legal trouble. Each woman reached a settlement for $1,000 from the county and $1,500 from the city, the documents show. The terms of Lockaby's settlement with the women were unclear Friday. www.statesman.com/news/content/news/stories/local/12/30/30settlement.html
