Deputy Roger Lane
A Cobb County sheriff's deputy has been arrested by the police department's Crimes Against Children detectives on child molestation charges. Deputy Roger Lane was also charged on Monday with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, rape and incest.
Lane was hired by Cobb County in August of 1997 as a detention officer and was assigned to the jail. Officials said there is no indication that the alleged charges took place while he was on duty. An Administrative Investigation has been initiated by the Sheriff's Office.
"While it is inappropriate for me to comment on an active investigation, any allegations of this nature are very troubling to me. I have confidence in the police department and our Internal Affairs Investigators and will wait on their conclusions," said Sheriff Neil Warren.
Lane is currently being held at the Cobb County Jail with no bond.
