12.06.2006 - COBB COUNTY -- A Cobb County police officer is in big trouble – he’s accused of sending a picture of his genitals to a woman he had arrested.
“I can confirm that there was some improper conduct, photographs taken,” says Wayne Delk with the Cobb County Police.
Cobb County Police say Officer Roy Collar took a picture of his private part and sent it via his camera phone to Autumn Gray – a woman he had arrested for DUI.
Collar – a top DUI Specialist – was taken off the DUI Task Force and was reassigned while Internal Affairs investigated.
“The Department is not going to stand by and let this type of behavior go unchecked,” says Delk.
Sources tell Channel 2 authorities found out about the pornographic picture after Gray’s husband got wind of the photo and complained. Sources also say Gray sent Collar a pornographic picture of herself. When we reached Gray by phone she had no comment.
We asked the Solicitor General – whose office is prosecuting the DUI case – if the fact Collar sent the picture will affect the case.
“I’m not saying it wouldn’t play a role, but it doesn’t affect what the charge should be,” says Solicitor General, Barry Morgan.
Meaning, prosecutors plan to move forward with their DUI case against Gray.
Officers we spoke to say they are embarrassed that Collar would harm his sterling career – a career that’s in jeopardy now that Internal Affairs has completed its investigation.
“The chief is going to make appropriate recommendations or actually hand down the appropriate discipline,” says Delk.
We are waiting to find out how the chief chooses to discipline Collar.
