11.22.2006 - BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- A Birmingham police officer was arrested on rape and drug charges.
Officer Ken Williams, 37, a five-year veteran assigned to the East Precinct, was arrested last Friday. He's accused of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman while on duty last week.
Lt. Henry Irby, a department spokesman, said the accusations led investigators to search Williams' residence, where they allegedly found cocaine in the pocket of one of his police uniforms.
Irby declined to say anything more about the matter.
Williams was placed on administrative leave with pay. He was released late Monday night from the Jefferson County Jail on a $350,000 bond.
Williams is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday.
