04/02/2006 - LINDEN, Texas—A former Cass County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested in connection with the alleged aggravated sexual assault of a female juvenile.
Texas Rangers and Cass County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Dale Gentry, 68, at his home Thursday in Atlanta, Texas, after 5th District Judge Ralph Burgess issued a warrant for his arrest.
The alleged victim is a girl under the age of 14, said Cass County Chief Deputy Ronnie Fincher.
He said the assault reportedly occurred within the last year. Details of the alleged offense were not available Friday. Fincher said Gentry had recently retired after working for the sheriff’s office 22 years as a deputy.
Gentry, who surrendered to law officers at his home, went before Burgess for arraignment Thursday afternoon to face the formal felony charge. He posted $50,000 bail and was released Thursday afternoon.
