Accused Of Sexual Assault and Witness Intimidation
LOS ANGELES -- A Riverside County sheriff's deputy assigned to the Lake Elsinore station, arrested in April for an alleged sexual assault, was arrested again on suspicion of intimidating a witness, authorities said on Thursday.
John Wayne Leseberg, 42, was taken into custody shortly before noon Wednesday at the Wildomar home of a woman who came forward earlier this week with new allegations of sexual improprieties against Leseberg, said Cpl. Dennis E. Gutierrez.
The woman called authorities about 11:30 a.m. to report that Leseberg was at her home, and deputies arrested him, Gutierrez said. Leseberg was booked into the Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of intimidating a witness, committing a felony while on bail, assault with intent to commit rape and elder abuse, jail records show. He was being held on $2 million bail. Leseberg, a 15-year sheriff's department veteran, was free on $50,000 bail in connection with his April 26 arrest for an alleged sexual assault on two people while on duty in November 2004.
