July 18, 2006 - SOMERVILLE -- Former Somerville Police Chief Christopher Landers has been arrested on charges of sodomy and sexual abuse. Officer Landers, 35, was released on $60,000 bond after being brought to the Morgan County Jail shortly before 8 p.m. Friday. No other details about the charges were available. The state attorney general's office is handling the case. Landers became Somerville police chief in October 2004 and resigned in January, citing personal reasons. Mayor Ray Long said Landers did a good job as chief. "Here at this office, I've never had a complaint on him about anything," Long told The Decatur Daily in a story Monday. "He was a good officer to us." Joe Mann, a former Hartselle police officer, succeeded Landers. www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060718/NEWS02/607180331/1009
