04/26/2006 - A Davis County sheriff's deputy was jailed Monday on suspicion of several sex crimes. Clearfield police arrested Deputy Matthew Allen, 31, and booked him into the Weber County jail on suspicion of two felony counts of forcible sex abuse and a misdemeanor charge of lewdness in front of a child.
Allen was released on his own recognizance later that day.
Assistant Clearfield Police Chief Greg Krusi, the police department's public-information officer, declined to discuss the case Tuesday evening because The Tribune called him at home. But the newspaper only learned of the case Tuesday afternoon through an anonymous tip.
Contacted at home, Davis County Sheriff Bud Cox said Allen worked as a court bailiff and was placed on unpaid leave pending an internal investigation.
"We'll go through the process with human resources and the county attorney and do what we need to do."
