04/20/2006 - A Dauphin County deputy sheriff was charged with stalking his neighbor by sending her nude pictures of himself and appearing naked in her yard, Dauphin County District Attorney Edward M. Marsico Jr. said yesterday.
Anthony Fritz, 31, a deputy sheriff since 1997, was suspended without pay March 23 pending a criminal investigation, county Sheriff Jack Lotwick said in a news release.
Fritz, of the 300 block of Market Street in Highspire, was charged with stalking, open lewdness and two counts of harassment, according to the criminal complaint.
Highspire police referred the case to Marsico's office to avoid any conflict of interest. Fritz's father was a former Highspire council member, Marsico said.
Fritz, who is married, has known his neighbor for nearly five years, Marsico said. His house is across the street from hers, police said. The neighbor is an adult, Marsico said.
Fritz began sending the woman cell phone messages that were sexual in nature, starting in February and continuing for about four weeks, police said. She told police she ignored the messages, hoping Fritz would stop sending them, police said.
The messages did not stop "and their content got worse," police said in the criminal complaint.
On Feb. 9, Fritz e-mailed his neighbor a photo of him holding his private parts, police said. The photo was taken with his cell phone, downloaded to his computer and sent to the victim, police said.
Fritz's cell phone number and his e-mail address appeared on the forwarded message, police said.
On March 4, Fritz is accused of sending his neighbor a cell phone message that he was behind her house, sitting on her picnic table nude, police said. The woman did not answer the call, police said.
Fritz is accused of sending more cell phone messages the next day saying, "how sad he was that she had missed him being naked and he was gonna do it again tonight," police said. He asked the victim if he could touch her, police said.
Fritz is accused of sending another message to the woman the same night, saying he was behind her home naked again.
He then sent a text messaged telling the woman it got too cold so he put his clothes back on, police said.
