The use of Radar detector and Laser Jammer

I am trying to find out if its illegal to use equipment as Laser Jammers in the US. I'm want to know what law they can use against you, and what kind of punishment you can expect. I have tried to get an answer from a police forum, but nobody was able to produce any evidence that its illegal, except in California, Virginia and Washington. I would love to hear specific §'s and not personal opinions.

Reading the police forum, I also found out that some LEO's state that they would go harder on a person with a detector than somebody else, and would even become "creative" to bust you. What can you do if you are being pulled over by a "creative" Officer that wants to nail you for as much as possible, for the simple fact that you have a radar detector?

Please don't answer the thread with BS and I would be ecstatic if you could refer to the law you mean apply on these matters.

Using a radar detector in cars is legal in all states except Virginia, Washington, D.C. and U.S. Military Reservations, radar detector use is still banned in all commercial vehicles in all states per a USDOT directive of February 1995.

Radar and Laser Jammers
Before going further, let us make the following statement; jamming or attempting to jam a police radar gun is a federal felony with fines up to $75,000. While radar jammers are marketed, speedlabs.com and our observations in El Paso show them to be totally ineffective, which is possibly the reason that their makers, while having been issued cease and desist orders by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), have not been prosecuted.

Laser jamming is another issue altogether. First, lasers are regulated not by the FCC but by the Food and Drug Administration and are considered separate from radar jammers. When effectively deployed, especially in conjunction with a high-performance conventional radar/LIDAR detector, laser jammers or shifters, as some manufacturers call them, can be very effective in rendering many laser guns ineffective within their legal operating parameters.

Jurisdictional Notes-
The state of Virginia, the District of Columbia, and most of the Canadian provinces ban the use of radar/laser detectors. To enforce these laws, all these jurisdictions have deployed radar-detector detectors (RDD) to sniff out vehicles using radar/laser detectors. The first units went by the name of VG-2 and could detect the local oscillator emissions of traditional radar detectors. This forced detector manufacturers to change their designs to conceal these emissions, thus making them invisible to the VG-2 RDDs.

There are federal statutes that make radar jammers illegal in all 50 states. California, Minnesota, and Utah specifically ban radar and laser jammers. (Radar jammers are banned by state law in the following states; Nebraska, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Virginia, Washington DC North Carolina, California and Utah) It's possible that laser jammers may become outlawed soon..........

Anything that stands in the way of the government making stealing money from it's citizens, usually will be regarded as a "threat" to the government and they would eventually have to outlaw it.

It's amazing that we gave up our air space to the government, no wait that was taken from us by our government.
