I cant believe officer Burkhart of the Valdosta Police is going to
be suspended for being involved in a conflict of interest!! When he
responded to a 911 call made on Wednesday the 12th everything was
going good until Burkhart noticed he knew the people being
complained about. He denied the lady who called 911 a police report
because he was friends with the people she called 911 on!! Finally,
after denying her a 911 report, he even told his friends he would
help them in civil court and joked around about it with them. I am
under the impression he thought that the lady who called 911 would
not report him for being friends with the drunk guy who yelled at
her in her own house over some furniture, but it turns out the word
got out. Now everyone knows Burkhart did this because of his
personal relationship with the people that were causing the trouble
at the scene. I just do not understand why he did not report to his
supervisor that he was friends with the nurse and her intoxicated
husband who was yelling at the woman who called 911. I heard
Burkhart telling someone earlier today he did not know them. Of
course he started denying it when the allegations were made that he
knew the people. His story literally changed overnight after he was
confronted!! But then we asked him "Ok, if you don't know those
people, why didn't you let the lady who called 911 make a police
report, and why did you sign as a witness on the civil case report
against the woman who called 911?" I mean after all, this is the
lady's house and a man entered it and got in her face - wouldn't
you call 911? There were no details about the man yelling at the
woman or anything in the civil dispute". He just shook his head and
said he could not discuss it. We were convinced at that point he is
a very close friend of the Rambsy household who caused the trouble
at the Frame's house. Its a shame that cops let their personal
lives get in the way of duty like this. I spoke with another one of
my legal buddies and they said that it was unlawful for this to
happen, and then the conflict of interest law came up. I even got
the case number since I received a copy of all the news in my email
today. It was police case # 060702212 and police case 060702342.
Now the 060702212 case was the one where Burkhart helped make the
civil dispute for his buddy, Jim. The second case number 060702212
is where the victim made the police report the day after the 911
call because she had to wait for someone who did not know the
people she was reporting. I sure would hate to call the cops on a
bad guy and have them come out only to say "This is my friend and I
am going to help them get away". But the question is, if something
like this does happen, who do you call (big smile) ? Anyhow, you
can get a copy of the police report from the City Police Station.
Make sure you get both case reports though because I have a feeling
that the first one 060702212 is going to be the evidence used
against Burkhart for the actual conflict of interest charge. It can
carry up to a $10,000.00 civil fine if convicted. Who knows though.
Maybe the department will work a favor for Burkhart and say the
computer accidentally deleted the civil case he made. Now, wouldn't
that be smooth? I am keeping track of this story, so I will let you
know what happens next week. I am sure some papers are going to be
filed soon and I want to know how this ends up.
