09.09.2006 - A firefighter is free from jail, a day after being ordered into custody for refusing to pay a fine or do community service for not wearing his seat belt. Wednesday, Mark Bohnenstiehl of Edwardsville, Illinois refused to pay a $55 fine or do a half-day of community service to resolve a ticket he received in July for not buckling-up. Bohnenstiehl didn't tell the judge he was a firefighter, or why he wouldn't pay the fine. But outside the courtroom, he said he won't wear a seat belt because he's had to cut too many people out of them. The judge, who ordered Bohnenstiehl jailed until Friday for contempt, ordered him freed Thursday. Bohnenstiehl is a firefighter with the volunteer fire department in Marine, about 25 miles northeast of St. Louis. www.14wfie.com/Global/story.asp?S=5378496
