01.12.2007 - NEWARK, N.J. - A former Newark police officer was sentenced Friday to seven years in state prison for selling cocaine and trying to hide her boyfriend, who was wanted on drug-selling charges. Officer Brandy Johnson, 30, an officer from 1999 until her arrest in July 2004, had pleaded guilty in September 2006 to official misconduct and cocaine distribution. In pleading guilty, Johnson admitted she sold 11 grams of cocaine for $400 from her home in Newark on April 20, 2004, and that she helped her boyfriend, Khalid Onion, sell 29 grams of cocaine for $1,200 to an undercover agent eight days later on a Newark street. After Johnson was arrested, she lied to investigators about Onion's whereabouts. He was found in her attic in August 2004, prosecutors said. Onion pleaded guilty in May 2005 to cocaine trafficking and was sentenced to a five-year prison term in October 2006. www.newsday.com/news/local/wire/newjersey/ny-bc-nj--policecorruption0112jan12,0,4508378.story?coll=ny-region-apnewjersey
