12.08.2006 - Another police officer has been arrested for allegedly falsifying time sheets in the North Syracuse Police Department. The Onondaga County District Attorney's Office announced Captain Michael Casey's arrest this morning.
Captain Casey worked full-time for North Syracuse and part-time for the Marcellus Police Department. He's been charged with grand larceny, and other charges may be on the way.
Casey's arrest comes just one day after the police chief in Marcellus was arrested for falsifying time sheets. The DA's office says Chief David Wilkinson was accepting pay from the North Syracuse Police Department, even when he wasn't working there.
Last month, North Syracuse police officer Daniel Keefe was also arrested for allegedly falsifying his time sheets.
The District Attorney's Office announced today that they're investigating whether Captain Casey and Officer Keefe may have tried to plant evidence and tamper with witnesses to their alleged wrongdoings. The DA's Office says that Casey and Keefe called State Police to make drug allegations against the North Syracuse police officer who blew the whistle on their actions.
Casey and Keefe are also believed to have placed heroin in a locker that whistleblower Michael Stassi had access to.
Keefe, Wilkinson and Casey have all been suspended from their police departments with pay.
