11.12.2006 - A Phoenix police officer was taken off the streets Wednesday after his arrest for reportedly beating and hospitalizing his 14-year-old daughter. Officer Robert Remsik admitted to taking the girl into the back yard of his Scottsdale home and striking her in the face, according to Scottsdale police. The girl was taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn with "significant bruising and swelling" of her face after she fled to a neighbor's house late Tuesday, police said. Remsik, a 19-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department, was arrested at his home near McKellips and Miller roads around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault. "He admitted to it and said the reason was because she ran away from home," said Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark, adding that the girl was afraid to report her father. Remsik, 47, was removed from his Sky Harbor International Airport detail and reassigned to a temporary administrative position. His employment status will be determined pending the outcome of an internal investigation, Phoenix police Sgt. Joel Tranter said. Scottsdale's criminal investigation also is ongoing, authorities said. www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/local/articles/1116cop1116.html
