06.02.2006 - A mistrial has been declared in the case of a former Pine Bluff police officer accused of conspiring to commit murder.
After deliberating nearly two-and-a-half hours last evening, members of the Jefferson County Circuit Court jury told Judge Berlin Jones they were deadlocked 6-6 in the trial of Jimmy Frizielle, and said there was no hope of further movement.
Frizielle was charged with conspiracy to commit capital murder, accused of offering to kill two people in exchange for $50,000.
Sandra Jacks of Pine Bluff had testified that Frizielle asked her for the money to take care of her neighbors, Tim and Lori Puddephatt, with whom she had been feuding.
Frizielle's attorney, Ed Adcock, said the state couldn't prove its case. Under questioning by Adcock, Jacks said Frizielle never used the words "kill" or "murder" and she never asked any one to kill the Puddephatts.
