04/07/2006 - It has been 2 years, but Detroit police never gave up on Randy Johnson. Thursday night, they arrested one of their own in Johnson’s death.
Johnson was killed in a hit-and-run, at Telegraph and 7 Mile, on June 20th, 2004. Whoever hit him didn’t stop, but left behind pieces of their car.
After media attention, retired Detroit Police Lieutenant John Campbell told investigators that the car pieces found at the scene came from his red BMW.
Campbell said he hit a truck at the intersection, but the truck drove away. He also told police that his attorney dropped the BMW off at the fatal squad. The car was never found.
But this hasn’t stopped investigators.
Believing that Campbell was the one who hit and killed Randy Johnson, he was arrested, and is expected to face charges Friday.
