06.07.2006 - A former Birmingham police officer was sentenced to almost five years in prison on weapons charges Tuesday.
Officer Quentin T. Dunn, 33, of Jemison was sentenced to 57 months in prison for possessing and transferring unregistered weapons to a Hoover police informant in 2004, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Tuesday. Dunn was charged with giving two guns, eight silencers and an automatic machine to the informant.
The weapons were previously registered to the late Robert Puckett, who Dunn had worked for as a private investigator. Dunn was convicted by a federal jury Feb. 1.
