04/27/2006 - BALTIMORE -- A Baltimore City police officer is facing charges for extorting bribes from a criminal defendant, the state's attorney's office announced Wednesday.
Officer Walter Jackson-Hill, 36, of York, Pa., was indicted on two counts of bribery, two counts of extortion by a government employee and two counts of misconduct in Office.
Jackson-Hill allegedly demanded and received bribes of $400 and $750 on two separate occasions from a woman in exchange for his promise to help her boyfriend, who had been arrested by the officer, the state's attorney's office said.
