05.27.2006 - Exeter Police Sgt. Len Galli confirmed Friday that his department arrested Officer Paul Cole Thursday night after he reportedly caused a disturbance at his daughter’s little league game.
Galli knew little else about what happened. He was not directly involved in the incident.
Officers in similar situations have faced verbal reprimands or mandatory counseling, said Joe Mangan, local vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Suspension and termination are possible, he said, but only if the officer in question has other disciplinary problems.
It was not immediately clear Friday if Cole would face internal discipline from the Plains Township Police Department. Police Chief James O’Malley could not be reached for comment Friday.
Plains Township police are not affiliated with the FOP. Mangan said it has its own union. Sgt. Dave Abraham, the union representative for Plains Township officers, did not return a message left Friday.
