03/23/2006 - COOPER CITY, Fla. -- Call her "Robocop." A Miami Beach police officer who was hit by a speeding car and thrown to the hood apprehended the driver who allegedly ran her down.
Shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday, Officer Sunday Garcia was leaving her Cooper City home for work when she saw a Volvo speeding down 91st Terrace, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
"She then walked toward the sidewalk to get a better view of the vehicle and noticed that it had just passed her and was now at the end of the block, making a U-turn (and) once again facing toward her," BSO spokeswoman Liz Calzadilla said.
Garcia stepped into the street to try and flag down the driver, who stopped only briefly before speeding up and slamming into her, Calzadilla said.
"She ended up on the hood of his vehicle, on his windshield," Calzadilla said.
Although she was thrown to the hood, Garcia managed to pull herself off, yank the driver out of the car and handcuff him, Calzadilla said.
BSO officials said Youthane K. Brown, a deliveryman for The Miami Herald, was the driver of the Volvo, but that he has not been charged and the investigation would be forwarded to the state attorney's office.
Calzadilla said Garcia had only minor injuries when BSO deputies arrived, but she was taken to Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines to be checked out anyway.

You always here of cops doing stupid things, but what do you expect with the average I.Q. of a cop being only 105? Why do so many cops think that they are Superman and can do anything? In reality a Hollow Point between the eyes, makes them bleed just like everyone else.
