02/13/2006 - SAN ANTONIO -- A retired officer with the San Antonio Police Department officer was charged with murder Sunday in connection with the shooting death of his ex-wife's companion.
Police said that Carlos Hernandez, who spent 20 years with SAPD, was at the same bar that his ex-wife and Ricardo Benavides, 46, were in Saturday night.
When the couple left the bar, Hernandez followed them and then started tailgated their vehicle in the 1000 block of Bandera Road, police said.
Benavides then got out of his vehicle to confront Hernandez when the former officer allegedly shot him twice in the chest, police said.
Hernandez turned himself in and his weapon to police officers after the incident, police said.
The suspect retired from the force about a year ago.

???Here we go again! Every time a San Antonio cop gets busted we hear the same excuse:" This should not reflect upon our other 2,000 officers." Yet when we hear that excuse once, twice, sometimes three times a week, what are we supposed to believe? San Antonio cops have murdered, raped women, raped a transexual, beaten a handcuffed teenager, secretly videotaped a daughter having sex, falsely arrested me, filed false police reports, beaten a citizen without probable cause (Bexar County Sheriffs beat a man in front of his house because he was "driving without headlights"; wow, what a serious crime; anyway, the police video shows that the driver DID have his headlights on), and dealing methamphetamine. Officer Lori Goss of Internal Affairs was arrested for domestic violence (this is a person who supposed to be policing cops?). When will it stop? I'm sure I've forgotten something since it happens so often.

At this point in time it appears the criminals ARE the San Antonio Police.
