CUYAHOGA FALLS - A Cuyahoga Falls police officer is scheduled to appear in court Thursday on charges that he injured his girlfriend. Officer Jeff Meek, 44, a 13-year veteran of the department, is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court. He is charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. Relatives of Kathleen Moore, 34, called Falls police Aug. 12 to report that Meek had assaulted Moore on Aug. 7, Chief John Conley said. Moore insisted that the injury was an accident. Conley turned the case over to Summit County Sheriff Drew Alexander's office for investigation. Moore told deputies that Meek unintentionally hit her in the eye with his elbow while he was asleep, according to the Sheriff's Office report of the incident. She was treated at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital for a bruised eye and a broken bone near her eye. Sheriff's investigators arrested Meek on Oct. 2. He appeared in court that day and is free on bond. He is on administrative duty pending the outcome of the case, Conley said. www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/news/15721401.htm
