03/10/2006 - Riviera Beach Police Officer Ken Thomas, 33, was arrested Friday and charged with cruelty toward a child, abuse without great harm, after the Department of Children's Services contacted the Sheriff's Office.
DCF noticed the girl with belt marks on her, the Sheriff's Office said, declining to say how the child was related to Thomas, a police officer for 13 years.
Thomas, who posted his $3,000 bond Friday, was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the case, Riviera police said.
Police Chief Clarence Williams said in a press release that Thomas has served the city in an "exemplary manner."
