07.05.2005 - MIAMI - A Miami Police Officer who allegedly attacked his girlfriend after she told him he was too violent for a relationship is out of jail on bond. Officer Maximilliano Valdez faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and battery. Valdez appeared in Miami-Dade bond court Tuesday, and was ordered held on $5000 bond. The Miami police department says he has been suspended while the charges against him are investigated. A report from the department says the officer had just returned home from an off-duty job Monday when his girlfriend, whose name was not released, told him she wanted to end the relationship because he was becoming too violent. The arrest report claims Valdez became irate, grabbed his girlfriend, and pushed her onto the bed. The officer allegedly threatened to kill her and himself if she left, and then grabbed his police-issued gun from his holster and placed it to her head, and again threatened to kill both of them. Police say the girlfriend was afraid she would be killed, and told Valdez she’d try to work things out. Valdez then took a shower, according to the arrest report, to prepare for his regular job as a police officer. The girlfriend then called police, and Valdez was arrested. Valdez has been with the department in March 2005. cbs4.com/topstories/local_story_185134426.html
