07.28.2006 - Clarke County Sheriff's Deputy Thomas Fox was arrested on domestic violence charges last weekend. Fox and his estranged wife are in the process of a divorce and apparently Fox went to her residence on McVay Road about 1 a.m. Saturday morning. The complaint stated he kicked the door of the residence in. He was in uniform and had traveled there in a sheriff's department patrol car. According to Jackson Police Chief Charles Burge he was charged with domestic violence, third degree/harassment and he spent the night in jail. There was a restraining order against Fox as part of the divorce agreement, but when asked if Fox had violated the order Burge said he had not been charged yet. "We're still checking into that," he said. Sheriff Jack Day said Fox had been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of Fox's trial. "If he is convicted, this could affect his career," Day added. Fox has been with the sheriff's department since the early 1990s. www.southalabamian.com/news/2006/0727/News/010.html
