HOUSTON -- A Houston police officer was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Austin early Thursday, KPRC Local 2 reported. Houston police confirmed that Sgt. Michael Craig, 45, was arrested and booked on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Officials said Craig was stopped in Austin at about 1 a.m. He was booked into the Travis County Jail at about 4 a.m. and released on $2,000 bond shortly before noon. Police said Craig is an officer and attorney and works in the legal department. Part of his job requires him to be in Austin to lobby lawmakers, officials said. Officials have not said if he was on official business at the time of his arrest. It is not known if Craig was driving a city vehicle or a personal vehicle. Austin police did impound the vehicle.
