A Calcasieu Parish sheriff's deputy faces an additional charge of vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal traffic accident Tuesday.
Joshua Louis Foch, 20, was arrested again Wednesday and was rebooked into the Calcasieu Parish jail at 4:30 p.m., Lake Charles police spokesman Mark Kraus said.
Foch, previously charged with underage driving while intoxicated, was free on $5,500 bond when he was arrested on the new charge.
Sheriff Tony Mancuso had suspended Foch without pay, pending the results of a blood-alcohol test.
Police said the test result was 0.11, meaning Foch was legally intoxicated.
A blood-alcohol reading of 0.08 is the base level for intoxication in Louisiana for an adult — though Foch, at age 20, cannot legally drink.
Mancuso said Wednesday that Foch, a Sheriff's Office corrections officer, will be fired because of the test results.
The victim, Jerica Devillier, 23, of Lake Charles, died from injuries she suffered in the crash, which occurred at about 1:21 a.m. Tuesday at Interstate 210 and Legion Street.
Two other deputies, all of whom were off-duty and riding in a Dodge Dakota owned by Foch, were injured.
Joshua Malone, 27, of Lake Charles, required surgery. He was listed in critical and guarded condition at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital on Wednesday.
Gregory Nall, 29, of Lake Charles, was treated and released the same day.
Foch was treated and arrested.
Foch, Malone, and Devillier were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, and it is unknown if Nall was wearing one, police said.
Mancuso said that Foch was first booked into jail at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday and released on bond at 6:23 a.m. on the underage DWI charge.
If Foch cannot make bond on the new charge, as a safety precaution for former law enforcement officers, Foch would be jailed at another facility or, if space is unavailable elsewhere, be kept in isolation at the parish jail.
