Deputy Heath J. Adams A St. Landry Parish Sheriff's jailer has been arrested and charged with trying to smuggle two bags of marijuana into the parish jail. Arrested Wednesday was 31-year-old Deputy Heath J. Adams of Sunset. He has been charged with two counts of bringing contraband into a penal institution, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, malfeasance in office and interfering with the duties of a police officer. "This arrest came fast on the heels of an order by Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz that a systemic search of jailers and other corrections employees be done in an effort to stop drugs and other contraband from entering the parish jail," said Jim Smith, sheriff's office public information officer. Guidroz said he is determined to clean up his jail and increase security. www.katc.com/Global/story.asp?S=6095007
