09.15.2006 - ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A New Mexico sheriff disputes accusations that he was parked in a public lot with his pants down and woman in the back seat, the Albuquerque Tribune reported Thursday. Sandoval County Sheriff John Paul Trujillo issued a written statement that denied the "very serious allegations" made about him in two police reports earlier this week. According to the reports, two officers from the Bernalillo Police Department found Trujillo's sport utility vehicle on Monday in a Park 'N Ride lot on U.S. 550, and noticed "the vehicle shaking back and forth." The officers then saw Trujillo crawling from the back seat to the driver's seat "maneuvering to put his pants on by way of buttoning and zipping." The officers said they also saw a woman crouching down in the back seat area. The officers said that no crime was observed and they left to investigate a report of a burglary. Trujillo called the reports "very serious allegations in an attempt to defame my character" in an election season. In a written statement, the sheriff said he was in the parking lot pursuing a tip of illegal drug activity. www.thedenverchannel.com/news/9858051/detail.html
