August 30, 2006 - A Mesa police officer who worked full-time at Power Middle School has been reassigned following allegations of inappropriate conduct toward a faculty member. Police would not discuss the allegations on Wednesday, but Mesa police spokesman Sgt. Chuck Trapani said "no one was hurt" and students were not involved. Officer Mark Larkin worked at Brimhall Junior High School last year but moved to the alternative campus in August. Power Middle School serves about 50 students in grades five through eight. Larkin was reassigned Aug. 17 to work on the "Teleserve Desk" at the police department, which fields calls involving minor crimes and grievances. His reassignment is temporary until the investigation is resolved. Larkin's personnel file shows a mixed history of high commendations and awards as well as disciplinary action. "People make mistakes," Trapani said, referring to demotions that Larkin received early in his career. Trapani said Larkin is the only Mesa school resource officer under investigation at this time. He said a new school resource officer has been assigned at Power while the investigation continues. www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=72915
