July 13, 2006 - IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. An Iron Mountain police officer has been fired after being charged with criminal sexual conduct and other counts. City Manager John Marquart announced Tuesday that Officer Phillip Bal had lost his job. Bal has been with the Iron Mountain police department for six years. Bal is charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, assault and battery and being drunk and disorderly. The charges involve an alleged incident at a bar last April. Defense attorney Frank Stupak says Bal denies the charges and is surprised the city fired him without proof of his guilt. www.wlns.com/Global/story.asp?S=5143447&nav=0RbQ
