06.29.2006 - State police have arrested a police officer from Laurel on rape charges dating back to an incident in March. State police say that around 3-am on March 25th… a 55-year-old woman and her husband were driving home from a bar down Route 13-a… with an officer following almost to Delmar before pulling them over. Police say that’s when the woman told her husband to leave the scene… and the Laurel officer detained the woman in his squad car. While driving her home… state police say the Laurel officer stopped raped her on the side of a back road. The victim says the act was not consensual… but that she complied because of the officer’s authority. After the incident was reported a DNA analysis showed that the two had engaged in contact… something the officer originally disputed. 26-year-old Kevin Hovatter was arrested today and charged with two counts of rape and other charges related to the incident. www.wgmd.com/newspost/fullnews.php?id=100
