03/15/2006 - BOULDER COUNTY - A former Sheriff's Deputy is free on bond, after being arrested for sexual harassment.
Authorities say two women claim the former Sergeant made inappropriate sexual comments and contact with them, on separate occasions.
Gregory Schumann resigned from his position Monday. He then turned himself in Tuesday, after detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Schumann had been with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office for 23-years.
Authorities say in early February, an "acquaintance" of his came forward, claiming unlawful sexual contact.
Schumann went on paid leave, while the department investigated. During that time, a second acquaintance alleged the same type of sexual harassment.
According to the arrest affidavit -- Schumann is friends with at least one of the victims.
It states on one occasion, he called one of the women and said, "Let's get naked under the sheets."
Another time, the affidavit states Schumann went to a victim's house, walked in and said, "I hope someone is naked in there!" It states he later approached her and touched her inappropriately.
Investigators say all of this took place while Schumann was on duty -- and in uniform.
"This is obviously disappointing," says Boulder County Sheriff, Joe Pelle. "It's embarrassing for the department, it's not something we're proud of. On the other hand, I think we are proud of the fact that people in On the other hand, I think we are proud of the fact that people in Boulder County should feel good about coming forward to us when they have a concern about office misconduct."
Schumann faces two counts of unlawful sexual contact. If found guilty on both counts, he could receive up to $10,000 in fines, and three years in jail.
